Don Nelson

B. Don Nelson, 80, of Bartonville, passed away at 10:48 a.m. on Sunday, November 4, 2018, at Farmington Country Manor.

A Memorial Service will be at 12 noon on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue in Peoria. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Don was born on December 27, 1937 in Wahpeton, ND, a son of David and Maxine (Souder) Nelson. He married Mary (Bublitz) Stenger on July 25, 2002, in Peoria. She survives.

He is also survived by his children, Kelly Davis of Tenino, WA, Lori (Scott) Laughlin of Bloomington and Timmie Marshall of East Peoria; step children, Jeffrey (Lenora) Stenger of Portland, OR, Lisa (Eric) Stark of Maroa and Christopher (Sarah) Stenger of Bloomington; sister, Peggy Schnurr of Colorado Springs, CO; sister-in-law, Trini Nelson of Billings, MT; numerous grandchildren; and beloved cat, Miss Kitty.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Theodore Nelson.

He was a woodworker and a very talented musician. He played the saxophone and keyboard in various bands throughout his life.

Memorial contributions may be made in Don's memory to Wounded Warrior Project, ASPCA or Unity Point Hospice.
